All Is Berright

Cranberries are a healthy treat for dogs. In fact, they are often found in dog food recipes because they are considered a superfood. They contain a chemical compound that can help prevent urinary tract infections. They are also high in fiber and antioxidants that help prevent disease and boost the immune system. The tiny seeds inside of fresh cranberries are also safe, edible, and nutritious.

Here are some of the vitamins and minerals that make them a superfood treat:

  • Vitamin C

  • Manganese

  • Vitamin E

  • Vitamin K

  • Vitamin B1

  • Vitamin B2

  • Copper

Coconut is full of healthy vitamins, nutrients, good fats, and carbohydrates to fuel your dog and boost its immune system.

There are several health benefits for adding coconut to your dog’s diet:

  • Reduces Inflammation: Coconut contains anti-inflammatory properties that speed healing and reduce swelling around cuts, wounds, and hot spots. Coconut meat can also help relieve joint pain caused by arthritis.
  • Strengthens the Immune System: Coconut contains lauric acid which fights virus, yeast infections, ringworm, and giardia. Coconut meat also has lots of antioxidants that help defend the body against bacteria, parasites and fungi.
  • Improves Skin and Coat: The fatty acids in coconut support a healthy coat, and the antioxidants can relieve dry, itchy skin. Coconut oil, while shouldn’t be eaten, is great as a topical moisturizer that can improve your dog’s coat.

Goat’s milk is loaded with probiotics that help to support digestion by increasing the population of healthy bacteria in your dog’s digestive tract. Supporting your dog's digestion helps to improve nutrient absorption, boosts the immune system, and aids in filtering out toxins. In addition, goat’s milk also provides:

  • Moisture - vital to all systems in your dog's body
  • Calcium - component of bone, strengthens muscle and supports blood clotting
  • B vitamins - support a healthy metabolism, digestion, and hormone regulation
  • Vitamin A - maintains eye health and cell function
  • Protein - provides amino acids needed to run the whole body

Unless your dog is lactose intolerant, plain Greek yogurt is better and safer for dogs than other types of yogurt. It contains more concentrated levels of probiotics (live cultures of bacteria), which do good things for a dog’s gut. Greek yogurt is particularly helpful for dogs taking antibiotics, which kill off some of the good bacteria in a dog’s gut. The probiotics in Greek yogurt also fight yeast infections, which can help dogs with recurring ear or skin infections.
